652 Cannery Row
Ocean View Hotel - Then
A stylish hotel was constructed on McAbee Beach in 1927 by the Wu family, on the former site of Cannery Row's second Chinatown.
The beach's Chinese residents had disbursed, many to an oriental quarter in downtown Monterey. The tiled 'dragon roof' of
the Ocean View Hotel replaced the Chinese Monterey Fishing & Canning Company as the new standard on the Beach. The Spindrift
Inn now serves Cannery Row's return to its earlier elegance as one of the Monterey Peninsula's award winning inns, located
on the site of Wu's Ocean View Hotel.
Spindrift Inn - Today
Located directly on the beach, the Spindrift Inn stakes its claims as one of the most luxurious hotels on the California coastline.
Escapes from reality are perfected here, whether for weekend getaways or weeklong honeymoons. Watch the sun dip into the ocean.
Relax in front of the wood-burning fireplace. Reflect over the revered art and decor. However you pass the time in Monterey,
it's promised to be well spent.
In the heart of Cannery Row and directly on the beach, the Spindrift Inn offers an atmosphere of elegance and gracious hospitality.
The Inn's distinctive lobby - hand tiled floors, Oriental carpets, charming antiques, original art and wood burning fireplace
- invites quiet conversation or private reflection.
Each guestroom of the Spindrift is unique, providing a satisfying blend of luxury, comfort and modern convenience. A romantic
wood-burning fireplace, goose down feather beds, comforters and pillows, marble brass baths, and some rooms with ocean views.
All conspire to spin a web of intimacy and grace to make your stay a memorable one.
