More than 41,000 acres of vineyards cover Monterey County's sun-soaked hillsides and fog-chilled valleys. Here, diverse topography and ocean-influenced microclimates combine for a growing season that stretches up to 60 days longer than in most grape growing regions. The result is a dynamic array of red and white wines vibrant in flavor and unique in character. Some 85 vintners and growers blend grapes from the county's nine American Viticultural Areas (AVAs), and many welcome guests for tastings and vineyard tours. Guests also sip and sample on Cannery Row, with three tasting rooms, including A Taste of Monterey, Bargetto Winery and Carmel Ridge Winery Tasting Room.
